Directory of Collaboratives

Mission

Region 5 ESC strives to provide mathematics teachers with the support needed to implement the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) through quality mathematics content that is structured and implemented in a manner that engages students with important mathematical concepts.

Accomplishments

Through the Texas Regional Collaborative, Region 5 ESC has partnered with Lamar University training teachers in the Math For English Language Learners (MELL) module. Many districts have received assistance in training teachers and in applying hands-on math activities to enhance students understanding of mathematical concepts. Many mathematics educators have received manipulatives/supplies to use in their classroom to develop students' capacity to "do" math.
