Mission

The mission of The University of Texas at Brownsville's Regional Collaborative is to provide state-of-the-art, on-going professional development opportunities for teachers within its region. The intent of the program is to support initiatives that increase the content and pedagogical practices of teacher leaders that effect positive change in student achievement.

Accomplishments

During Spring 2008, collaborative members received extended training on journaling and alternative assessment. Several STMs participated in ELL training which they brought back to their colleagues. In February, all members received aquatic education training and received certification as angler education instructors through Texas Parks and Wildlife Aquatic Programs. The spring activites also included Elementary Globe activites which were queckly accepted by STMs and implemented in their classrooms. We have just completed the geosciences training with all STMs and are planning the summer instutute activities..
