Texas A&M International University at Laredo through the PEIC (Pre-K-16 Educational Improvement Consortium) has committed to advance the quality of science education in its 100 mile radius by:
During the 2007-2008 school year, Texas Science Regional Collaborative at Texas A & M International University worked very closely with United ISD, Laredo ISD, Zapata County ISD, and the Imaginarium of South Texas (children’s museum and learning center in Laredo, Texas) in providing excellent Science training opportunities for science teachers in these districts. We continued to train teachers in Bridging 11 TAKS Modules 1 & 11, Elementary Globe training and Secondary Globe training. We were instrumental in providing additional training opportunities for several teachers to attend the annual science conference in Austin, Texas. We are proud to state that we surpassed our projected numbers for Science Teacher Mentors.
Our goals for this coming school year are: to implement our science training early in the fall; increase our Science Teacher Mentors and Cadre Members numbers; continue with quality training as outlined in SOW 2008-2009; and provide opportunities for our science teachers to attend professional science conferences and training . We look forward to a most productive new school year.
